How to Create a Notification for a myQ Account
You have the ability to create a notification using the myQ app. Doing so will allow you to receive a notification when your door opens or closes, or if your myQ lights turn on or off. You can receive the notification by either a push notification sent to your phone or an email notification sent to the email address used when creating the account.
If you choose a specific time for your notification, the notification can't be scheduled past midnight. For example: If you want the scheduled notification to run from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am, you must create two notifications. One notification to schedule 10:00 PM to 11:59 PM and then another notification to schedule 12:00 AM to 6:00 AM.
Create a Notification for a myQ Account
- Tap the + on the main screen.
- Tap Notification.
- Choose the device you want to set a notification for.
- Name the notification.
- Choose the conditions on when to send a notification:
- Garage door is open, closed or stopped
- Light is on or off
- Select when you want to be notified
- Immediately: This allows you to set up a notification to occur as soon as the device changes.
- Remind Me: You can set an amount of time until the notification occurs. An example: You can set it up to receive a notification after the door has been open for 10 minutes.
- Choose when you want to receive notifications
- All times and days - Notifications received 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Custom times can be set up by enabling Custom Time and Day.
- Choose which type of notification you want to receive
- Push notification
- Tap Save.
Notes:
- You should receive a push or email notification within 90 seconds. If you have not received a notification within 90 seconds, the test failed. You may need to check your device and ensure you can receive push notifications. If you denied this request when installing the app, you will need to turn it on. Consult your device's instructions for enabling a push notification for the app.
